I’ve always heard about podcast, and trust me, I am so keen to know these secrets. I am sure you also want to know too.
Good evening Sir, my name is Paul Kay, I’ll be anchoring this interview session with you today on Paul Kay’s Blog.
Hi, I’m Adura. Glad to be here chief.
Its been an entirely different thing, in the world of a podcaster, and that’s what I and a load of readers are on for.
Lmao, looking forward to gisting with these humans too🥲… Seems like an amazing bunch

You usually go by the name AA on social media, what does it mean?
Yes, I do. It’s just an initial really. Abiola Aduragbemi.
I guess I can call you Adura.
That works too
Okay… Mr. Adura, what is podcast all about. Many people have been hearing podcast, podcast, podcast, but I bet you they don’t know the importance or what’s it about.
Podcast? That’s a big one!
Nah, I’m kidding.
Podcasts are, in simple terms online radio. No more, no less. Now, instead of having monopolized on-air platforms (such as the radio). You can own your own radio from the comfort of your own device.
Talking about whatever you like, as much as you like, to whoever you like. You’re basically the judge, jury and executioner.
Guess that’s pretty much it!
Wow! It sounds super easy from the way you talk about it. But I’m sure it is not easy.
Just like everything in life when you think about it.
How long have you been a podcaster, Adura?
About two years now.
Wow! 2 years as a podcaster.
What pushed you into this ‘profession’ if you’d permit to call it so
Profession is such a strong word. But yeah, I got turned down at a radio interview sometime four years ago I think.
Then I was like, “fuck it, I’mma create my own station”. Hence, Shaking Tables with AA was born
Not as a podcast at first but rather as rants on my WhatsApp status which ran Fridays 8pm.

Then I discovered podcast and it was easy for me to transcend into it. The rest, they say, is history.
Wow!…. But is it possible to fuel a passion if its not fetching you income?
Well sure. I just started monetizing the pod just recently. For me, podcasting has become some form of therapy. Where I get to air my feelings but also give listeners a good time, you get?
Yeah… 🤔🤔🤔combination of two aims. Oh, you started monetizing, that means it now has three functions.
Well, yeah. Yes indeed.
But I’m sure many folks would be doubting that podcasts can be monetised
Of which I can understand
Podcasts just became sort of the next big thing in the abroad media. I do not need to tell you how slow it might be to circulate in our great nation
So I can understand the doubts.
No be say me sef dey make one kind bastard money oh. Like I said, we just started.
True. But in these two years, you must have come through challenges
Could you list two challenges you’ve faced, in your journey so far as a podcaster and how you overcame them both
The first has to be trying to explain what a podcast is. As basic as it might sound, I still get this all of the time.
Like I said, it might take a minute to circulate on our great nation. So I’m kind of burdened with teaching folks what a podcast is and why they should give it a shot
The other one is the ego, the kudi, the raba. Monetizing isn’t easy. That’s pretty much it.

Wow! By the way, Mr. Adura, what’s Kudi & Raba
😂😂😂😂💔💔💔 Way to go, here I was thinking it was some term for the profession
I see a huge load of people who have begun the journey of podcasting and after a while, they quit
What has kept you going?
So far, it has become a form of coping mechanism. Venting to strangers and laughing about it. It has become that for me
The numbers get to me some days, but I podcast for me. Having people listen is just a plus one.
It’s just like keeping notes on your phone’s notepad or leaving a voice message in your voice recorder. That’s what it is for me.
So what’s the advice you’d give to a beginner podcaster?
Start, where it take you. I’ve had to become so many persons in order to push the pod.
Sometimes, I’m a graphic designer, a social media manager, a customer care representative of the pod and very recently, I’ve become a marketer.
Comman buy awa merch oh (come and buy our merch)
And oh! A model too
Wow!!!!! That’s really huge.. You do have a merch for the pod. Where do you see the pod in the next 3 years
Honestly, doing what I’m currently doing only with couple more hundred ears
Wow! It’ll be really nice to have this interview again in the next 3 years, Mr. Adura.
Hopefully, it all works out as we hope.
I had a really nice time learning new things. I’m sure I’m not the only one asking, “how can we connect with you?”
