TWO REPORTEDLY DEAD IN LAGOS HELICOPTER CRASH

….as man reminds of his warning on airplane disaster

A helicopter with registration number 5NBQW crashed into a residential building at Opebi area of Ikeja, Lagos. The helicopter which is owned by Quorom Aviation, is a privately operated helicopter that had commenced charter services late 2018, after obtaining its operating license from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) same year.

The crash which took place at about 12:17pm at No. 16A Salvation Road, Opebi had three occupants; with two feared dead — the pilot and one of the passengers, while the other who is critically injured is at intensive care unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.

The incident which left no bystander injured, also damaged the rear screen of a Honda Salon car with number plate EPE 04 AL, parked in the building.

Officers of National Emergency Management Agency NEMA, Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB), Lagos State Emergency Management Agency LASEMA, The Nigeria Police, Lagos State Fire Service, Federal Road Safety Corporation, and some other agencies, were all on ground to ensure it did not escalate, and thankfully there was no fire outbreak.

In another light, mixed reactions have begin to trail the tweet made by a Nigerian, Tosin Olugbenga, on Twitter on the 19th day of August,2020; where he tweeted, “We should pray against any form of airplane disaster in this turbulent 2020 already. Those in charge of safety and security at the Nigerian airports should take this serious”. The tweet is brought to light by a recent quote on the previous tweet, made by the same Tosin Olugbebga, where he tweeted, “I actually saw the Opebi helicopter crash before now. Its a turbulent 2020 already.

Some others still wonder if this is the one he warned or there is more to come.
